The Greening DRR Project: Global Climate Change
and Climate Change in the Philippines

Human-induced climate change is already affecting many weather and climate extremes in every region across the globe. The Philippines ranked the highest in disaster risk worldwide according to the World Risk Index 2022. The Philippines also ranks as the eighth country globally and second highest among Asian countries that are most affected by extreme weather events in 2021.

In response to the persisting challenge of climate change globally, different organizations and private institutions are promoting long-term solutions. IFRCAmerican Red Cross, and National Societies in the Philippines, Vietnam, and Jamaica, and funded by USAID Philippines, the Greening Red Cross Red Crescent Disaster Risk Reduction: Saving Lives through Working with Nature (Greening DRR) project, to address climate change, environmental degradation, and disaster risk.
