"The Raiders are excited to welcome NCAA and college basketball fans from all over the world to our homes in Las Vegas and Allegiant Stadium," said Sandra Douglas Morgan, president of the Las Vegas Raiders and Las Vegas NCAA Final Four bidding teams. "Our facility is an ideal high-tech venue for global sporting events."
This announcement further solidifies Las Vegas as the greatest arena on Earth, following this year's successful marquee events, including the NFL Draft and NFL Pro Bowl. Las Vegas will also host the 2023 Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix and 2024 Super Bowl LVIII. The ability to showcase the most viewed events in college basketball is partly thanks to the completion of Allegiant Stadium in 2020.
"We couldn't be more excited to host the NCAA Men's Final Four in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium," said UNLV track and field director Eric Harper. "Our city has been the center of basketball at all levels for many years and now welcoming one of the best events in all sports is the climax of how Las Vegas truly became the world's sports and entertainment capital. We look forward to working closely with LVCVA and the NCAA to host amazing events like our city is famous for."
Las Vegas has hosted a number of NCAA member country basketball championships, including the Mountain West Conference, the Pac-12 Conference, the West Coast Conference, the Western Athletic Conference, and the Big West Conference. In 2023, the destination will also serve as the host of the NCAA Division I men's basketball West Region and National Invitation Tournament (NIT).
"We're excited to bring the NCAA's premier championship to Las Vegas, a city that has hosted numerous championships at multiple member meetings over the years," said Chris Reynolds, Bradley's track director and committee chairman. "The media's feedback covering the league, their team's fans, and the events held there has been overwhelmingly positive, and we're confident we'll get the same evaluation when the men's final four is played at Allegiant Stadium."
The Las Vegas NCAA Final Four Bid Team consists of several sports, entertainment and tourism executives and thought leaders in Las Vegas.
The team includes Jeremy Aguero, senior analyst for application analytics; Jennifer Bundschuh, sports marketing and special events manager for Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA); Sandra Douglas Morgan, president of Las Vegas Raiders; Adam Feldman, vice president of stadium management, programming and guest experience for Las Vegas Raiders; Steve Hill, chief executive officer/president of LVCVA; Lisa Motley, senior director of LVCVA sports and special events; Greg Desharnais, director of Allegant Stadium Assistant; Erick Harper, UNLV Athlete Director; Rob Dondero, vice president of R&R Partners; Mike Newcomb, executive director of Thomas & Mack Center; Chris Wright, general manager of Allegant Stadium; and Brian Yost, chief operating officer of LVCVA.
"The Final Four is one of the important events in sports, and we're excited to have the opportunity to become a host in 2028," said Steve Hill, CEO/President of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Association. "The excitement of the Final Four basketball game combined with the energy of Las Vegas will create an unforgettable experience for both the team and the fans. We can't wait to welcome the Division I men's basketball championship to the greatest arena on Earth."
Plans have already begun for this important event, which provides volunteer opportunities for dedicated visitors to the Las Vegas community and destination.
