"The Master" Wins WSOP Bracelet for 7th Time

7 turned out to be the lucky number of poker players known as the "master."
Men Nguyen of California's Bell Gardens won the first $10,000 event of the 41st World Series of Poker early Sunday morning. At the time, he took first place in a 150-player event at the Seven Card Stud World Championship in Rio.
The victory gave Nguyen a seventh World Series of Poker Championship bracelet, which he shared with Hall of Fame inductees Bill Baxter and Phil Ivy ranked sixth among those with the most wins in the World Series of Poker. It has also been seven years since Nguyen grabbed his last bracelet. 메이저 토토사이트
"It's very, very big for me," Nguyen said after the win. "The last two bracelets I won were in 2003, and now it's 2010. I didn't get any because so many people came into the poker world. Now I haven't done any because it's hard. It's hard to break through."
Nguyen's victory was worth a salary of $394,807. A native of Vietnam, Nguyen was one of the most dominant players in poker in the 1990s. He cashed in more than 100 major tournaments and won several famous titles.
Nguyen, 55, was born in Pantier, Vietnam, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1978, three years after the fall of South Vietnam. Nguyen fled his native country on a ship to Malaysia. He was granted political asylum in the U.S.
"I want to thank the U.S. for giving me this opportunity every time I give a speech or go into an interview," Nguyen said.
Nguyen has won nearly $2.2 million in total prize money in the World Series of Poker. He has withdrawn cash from 67 matches, ranking second in the tournament's all-time ranking. Phil Helmuth, the 1989 world poker champion and owner of a record 11 golf bracelets, has the most cash for games at 76.
Nguyen is also tied with T.J. Cloutier with 38 final table appearances. Hellmuth is the all-time leader with 40.
Brandon Adams of Pensacola, Florida, came in second and he raised $243,958. The final table also included Michael Mizrachi of Mirimar, Florida, and Vladimir Schmellev of Russia. They became the first two players to compete in multiple finals at World Series Poker this year.
They finished one-two in the $50,000 Poker Player Championship, which ended five days ago, and Mizrachi won the Chipless Memorial Trophy, plus nearly $1.6 million.
