The Creation of THE DON
(Directed By Mark Crooks)
This short film was inspired by the feeling that you get when you watch an 1980s movie. I shot this video in Florida right before a hurricane destroyed the area I was staying at which gave me little time to shoot. I used a 1987 Buick to film most of the scenes and it was definitely a challenge as I had to mount the camera to the car.

I wrote a full treatment for the video and I had originally planned to shoot more scenes to bring together a storyline. Hurricane Idalia swept Florida when I had eighty percent of video shot so I had to edit the final project with what I got. Although I know that the story I wrote has plot holes I still managed to tell a story with what I had captured and I feel that the scenes I didn’t shoot became the mystery of what exactly my project became. I think that it worked itself out because the questions are now left up to the audience.
