The Tourism Project Part 2 - Infographic
For the study of other magazines, I chose a magazine from England called the Sunday Express. It's a fashion magazine that explains trends and current fads. I wanted to have two different perspectives, so I picked one panel that was mainly text based and one that was photography centered.
For the panel above, its contained within margins. They are as follows:
- Top: 65px
- Bottom: 67px
- Inside: 39px
- Outside: 51px
(Note: the inside and outside are relative to the original spread, meaning the right side is the outside, though its listed as the inside in InDesign.)

The Layout is MUCH more complicated. The closest lay out I could find follows these guides:
- 18 rows with 13px gutters, within margins
- 6 columns with 13px gutters, within margins
For the panel above, it IS NOT ALWAYS contained within margins. They are as follows:
- Top: 65px
- Bottom: 67px
- Outside: 51px
(Note: the inside and outside are relative to the original spread, meaning the right side is the outside, though its listed as the inside in InDesign.)

There is no margin for the inside of the page.
Now here's the bad part about this. Yes it's pretty, but it's not organized sensibly...

- 13 rows with 10px gutters, within margins
- 9 columns with 10px gutters, WITHIN THE PAGE

This is the only time it doesn't apply to the margins...
THE GAME PLAN FOR MY STANDARDS SO FAR:
Ideally, I'd like there to be a lot of clarity with the logo. What you can do with it and what you can't. Discord and Joni display that really well. I really like how "I Love NY" laid out how to keep brand consistency with their printed ads. I couldn't get a clear screen cap of the 2024 Olympics type reasoning, but they had a story behind their type face and logo, which was really nice. I also really like how Joni has a "slider" gauge to explain their brands tone. Once again, I like how "I Love NY" displayed their fonts (top left). Theres more to the Screen cap, but I do like how they demonstrate their type.
(full screenshots below)
This is the generalized layout of what I'd like to do for my brand standards "booklet". In the end I deviated from this a little, I feel there was a better way of organizing it.
Below is a screen cap of the type exploration I've done. I ended up using the Paralucent and Paralucent Condensed families for my headings and subheadings, and Fira Sans Book for my body copy.
