GO Sports Drink (Gold Pack)

The problem was to create a new strategy, design and packaging, for a yet to be released brand of sports drink. Gold Pack want a sports drink targeted at the health and environmentally conscious, it needs to stand out from its competitors on the shelf and in the consumers minds.

I decided to settle on square can with rounded corners, but with a PET plastic drinking top, which would need to be sealed with a elastic bonding agent as plastic and aluminum would expand and contract at different temperatures. The unique can would stick out on the shelf when next to it’s competitors. It’s rectangular profile would make the cans easier to pack, and more economical to transport, as well as stopping them from rolling. Since the can is rectangular it can be gripped easer then other 500ml cans and the resealable top means (seals and dispenses better then the old pop up top on brands like Energade) that the customer doesn’t have to worry about wasting if they don’t finish the drink in one go.
In addition, adding a little catch to the top of the can and a nipple on top of the lid (similar to the snap buttons on clothes) can keep the lid out of the customer’s way while drinking.

I propose the contents be made up of coconut water with added nutrients, to satisfy the human health aspect of the product, using coconut water as a base means less additives needed to be added, while still maintaining that it is better then the competition.
To embody Game Overs’ progressive brand identity, I created futurist glyphs of my own, To be used only for the flavour and brand name.

bring attention to the can when they are placed next to each other.

I wanted a cardboard (recyclable) box that used as little material and waste as possible, as well as being stable enough to carry cans, and be able to stack without problems.
I placed the pop up handles behind the box so they would not break the branding graphics.
