Istanbul - I
Across the Bosporus from the majestic mosques, lies the Asian side of Istanbul, Kadıköy and its eclectic collection of cafes, bars and restaurants. Coming from the order, peace and quiet of Canadian cities, I was keenly aware of the vibrance and chaos. The life on the streets reminded me of Indian cities and I felt right at home. The streets were mostly pedestrian only, with a few handful two wheelers whizzing past. People were sitting at the patios on the streets sipping a cup of coffee, tea or a glass of beer in hand. Some alone, some in large groups, some playing chess, others just quietly reading a book in a corner or smoking a cigarette. Even at midnight, there was an electrifying buzz in the air. Captured here are photos taken as I strolled on these streets on Christmas evening.
