PUMA LQDCELL OMEGA MANGA CULT
with DAS KAPITAL
Synchronicity is beautiful.

Sometimes, seemingly unrelated things align in a way that speaks to you so personally, they create a moment more valuable than the sum of their parts.

That is how I feel about PUMA's latest LQDCELL release, the "Omega Manga Cult" collection.
Sneakers born of 90s technology, reimagined for 2019 in striking colours that pay homage to the iconic inking style of Manga.

I cannot help but see the connections between this collection and one of the greatest Manga and pieces of cult cinema of all time - AKIRA by Katsuhiro Otomo.

Set in NeoTokyo, in a dystopian 2019, AKIRA is a pop-culture monument that proves evermore influential as time progresses; a head-melting fantasy rooted in futurism, power, and tradition.
I see those themes visibly mirrored in the sneakers themselves. From the revamped silhouette - technological, sleek, and bold enough to compete in the modern world - to the colourways straight out of the pen of a mangaka, these pieces are a loving tribute to an art style so immersive and groundbreaking that it still resonates in the hearts of the world decades after it was conceived.

The LQDCELL sole is your suspension; the colourway is your calling card; the streets are tough, but they're your playground; and your motor coils are just getting warmed up.
