A Dialogue Book
This project is a book of typographic relations between Beatrice Ward's essay The Crystal Goblet or Why Printing Should Be Invisible and the Life Science Foundation (LSF) article Intuition: The Knowledge of the Heart.  The goal for this project was two uniquely fuse the two voices using various conceptual and visual connections. The concept was to visually express the contrast between Ward's argument that all good design is a result of rational and calculated thought and the LSF's article about the power of the unconscious and intuition. The book is read with alternating opaque and transparent pages. Ward's article is featured on the transparent paper synonymous with her argument that design should be transparent and designed in a manner that reflects Ward's desire for conveying a clear and undisputed message to the audience. The LSF article, printed on opaque white paper, demonstrates the sharp contrast as it exemplifies the power of intuition. These pages were designed with no pre-conceived ideas, but rather from gut feelings and quick instincts. The book proves to be as much of a unique reading experience as it is a visually appealing piece of artwork.
