The Old Moat
Today, Balloch Castle Country Park is the home of just one castle (you can guess its name), but in centuries gone by it was home to an older castle which was built by the Lennox family in the 13th century. The Castle was only held for around a century or so, so no trace of the building itself remains, however the moat still exists and is still partially filled, and the small hill on the other side of the moat is where the castle was once situated.
