I created this for a project in my college Intro to Graphic Design class, in which the students made invitations for any event of our choice. Most students did weddings and parties, but I don’t care much about either of those. A Black Belt ceremony is unique, and something I know about and care about, because I earned one. The font I found helps out a lot. At first I had a more stylized version of it, but it was too complex. The italicized text adds dynamism. I really liked having some things off to the side, but I centered it all at my professor’s discretion, trusting him to know what’s best. The black bands resemble a black belt, and I originally had three, but one was taken out again at my professor’s discretion.
