De Profundis - Dedications to Georg Trakl

A Visual and Literary Exploration

"De Profundis - Dedications to Georg Trakl" is a multifaceted project bridging the realms of literature and visual art. Conceived as a tribute to the influential Austrian-German expressionist poet Georg Trakl (1887-1914), this endeavor encompasses both a book and an exhibition.

* De Profundis, the Latin phrase translates to "Out of the depths". It is a reference to Psalm 130,

in which the psalmist prays to God for help from a state of deep suffering and despair.

The book itself presents a tapestry of diverse artistic expressions in homage to Trakl's legacy. Each author, through their chosen medium, delves into their personal engagement with Trakl's work and its impact on Serbian poetry.

Serving as a collage profile, it features contributions from nine prominent figures:
Poetry: Zvonimir Kostić Palanski, Jovan Mladenović, Dobrivoje Jevtić
Prose: Jovica Aćin
Essays: Luka Prošić, Ljubiša Kocić, Hans Vajskelbaum, Mirjana Bojanić Ćirković
Digital Graphics: Ivan Mišić

My role in this project encompasses both visual storytelling and curatorial vision. As the designer, I have crafted the entire aesthetic identity of the book, including its layout, typography, and imagery. The digital graphics created for the book are not merely decorative; they serve as interpretive companions to the written pieces, visually echoing and amplifying the underlying themes and emotions.

Beyond the pages of the book, the project culminates in an exhibition organized by Gallery of Contemporary Art Niš and with the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, showcasing the digital artworks.

This immersive experience further emphasizes the interplay between word and image, inviting viewers to engage with Trakl's legacy through a multi-sensory lens.
