A festive invitation letterpressed with things filling the holiday season
For many years now, instead of baking cookies or purchasing little trinkets, a holiday party is thrown for all my family, friends, and colleagues. With the tenth year of the celebration approaching, I wanted to do something special, and had always dreamed of a letterpress invitation. In typical fashion, the season was soon approaching and time was slipping away.
Finding a festive type and combining it with classic and kitschy illustrations, I kept my word map clean and simple. Some icons were purchased, then modified to make them my own. For colors, I chose a bright red (PMS 1797), which always evokes the feeling of the holidays, and a tinny silver (PMS 8002), which added a level of sophistication. I splurged on paper, choosing a thick, toothy cotton sheet, which enhanced the crisp results from the letterpress technique.
I hope the guests enjoyed the invitation as much as they did the party!
