Dual Piston Hydraulic Linkage
The 3 and 4 bar linkage systems allow for a massive number of different motion paths to be created by slight modification of the links' geometry. When doing a motion study project, I thought the project of fixed linkages was limiting. I wanted to make a more universally applicable system that could be customized based on user input or reactions to requests made by environmental input. As a conceptual design, I wanted a system that could hydraulically extend or contract along its swing arms to allow for infinite configurations and endless different output motion paths. A simple fixed arm path is shown below.
