Sally Mann reflection

Sally Mann’s mind is creative and unique. Her photography definitely tells a lot about her mind and how she views art in her own way. Her art is shown in ways that not all people will agree with and could be seen as controversial. I thought there were some very interesting points throughout this video. Something that I found very interesting was the fact that her children spent a lot of time in nature and would be nude while being inside their home. This was how Sally grew up and how her childhood was. Therefore, she raised her children this way. I believe that the way a person grew up, definitely reflects on their future children and how they will be raised. I find it very fascinating how all children are raised very differently. There are certain things that parents may or may not do that other parents find to be something very wrong. I believe that’s what makes all parents unique, and the same thing goes for a child. I think being raised in nature is a very beautiful thing, and she definitely captured those moments through her photography. Being in nature teaches children a lot about life and brings creativity to a child’s mind. This film was very informative and it allowed me to think a lot. I feel as though if a film leaves you feeling this way, it was obviously touching and important to see. Learning about Sally Mann’s art and her as an artist has made me realize that she is one of the most unique artists that I have heard of. Her work and her story is something that has stood by me. I think this is mainly because a lot of her art is something that is not usually done or seen with other artists.
