A principios de 1982 y en plena guerra fría, en el Atlántico Sur se estaba por disputar el conflicto belico mas importante del siglo XX para Argentina. En ese momento, el país venia sufriendo la dictadura cívico-eclesiástico-militar mas cruenta de nuestra historia desde el año 76, y como forma de perpetuarse en el poder toman la decision de disputar la soberanía de las islas Malvinas que se encontraba bajo el dominio ilegitimo de Gran Bretaña.
Un año antes del incio del conflicto, la clase 62 prestaba el servicio militar obligatorio en las diferentes fuerzas, ésta sería la historia de vida de Daniel Ortiz que a los 18 años de edad realizó el servicio en la Base Naval Puerto Belgrano donde es designado al Crucero ARA General Belgrano. El dia 2 de mayo mientras el crucero se encontraba fuera de la zona de exclusion maritima fue atacado y hundido por el submarino nuclear británico HMS Conqueror. De 1093 tripulantes fallecen 323 y sobreviven 770.
En el periodo post guerra quienes no continuaron una carrera militar tuvieron dificultades en conseguir empleo, Daniel llega a Soldini en el año 1992 en busqueda de una oportunidad laboral y en el 94 queda efectivo en el cementerio de la comuna donde vive y trabaja como cuidador. En el mes de Octubre se cumplen 29 años desde su llegada al Cementerio Cristo Rey.
