Editorial Design:
Narrative and Curatorial Photography
Project brief:
For this project, students were asked to create a horizontal/panoramic layout that illustrates, photographically, a narrative highlighting one or more of the following visual qualities: shape, texture, pattern, colour and tonal values. The piece needed to be abstract, without a literal or 'obvious' story.
Project deliverables:
1. A series of five photographs arranged in a horizontal narrative, displayed both digitally and printed.
1.1 Two fashion images in either colour or greyscale
1.2 Three greyscale documentary photos
Design strategy
For the duration of this project, I exp:lored a variety of spaces in search of texture, pattern and form which resulted in the documentary photos. However, in order to create the fashion photos I intentionally placed texture, pattern and used form. The final curation was born out of many happy accidents that happen through camera's power to record more than just the obvious.
