International Yampolsky Violin Competition
The competition is named in honor of the outstanding musician and teacher Abram Yampolsky, who was the founder of the legendary violin school. He raised a generation of brilliant violinists, among them are Leonid Kogan, Julian Sitkovetsky, Eduard Grach, Igor Bezrodny, Elizaveta Gilels, Mikhail Fichtenholts, Rostislav Dubinsky, Naum Lapinsky, Mark Lubotsky, Zarius Shikhmurzaeva, Valentin Zhuk, and many other musicians that make up the pride of violin art of the XX-th century.
The International Yampolsky Violin Competition was founded and conducted by the initiative of the outstanding student of Abram Yampolsky – Eduard Grach, who is now the Professor of the Moscow Conservatory, soloist of the Moscow State Philharmony.
The International Yampolsky Violin Competition at first was held in the provincial cities of Russia and became a significant event in the cultural life. From the IV competition, the International Yampolsky Violin Competition is held in Moscow. The competition auditions are held in the halls of the Central Music School of the Moscow Conservatory. Concerts of the competition are held in the best concert halls of Moscow, such as the concert halls of the Moscow Conservatory.
