SLUSH PUPPiE is not only the ORIGINAL frozen beverage, dating back to 1970, but is also the most well-known frozen brand. For the first time SLUSH PUPPiE would be made into a ready to drink carbonated soft drink, with a refreshed look!

Playful, exciting and nostalgic, SLUSH PUPPiE flavours include much-loved Blue Raspberrie and Strawberrie. The Fizzie range allows consumers to extend special moments of enjoyment by delivering the retro, nostalgic taste of Slush Puppie that they know and love in an exciting new format.

Brief 

The brief was to translate the updated Slush Puppie identity for frozen beverages, and apply to the new Fizzie range.

Solution

Who let the dogs out?

Taking the core design created for the traditional Slush Puppie frozen range by Outlaw, I produced a variety of concepts for the new Fizzie sub-brand. This was eventually taken onto packaging, with labels for the 500ml and 2 Litre bottles, as well as shrink wraps and trays. I took the designs from concept to artwork completion, attending press passes and production runs to ensure print quality was high!

Initially, Slush Puppie Fizzie launched in 2 litre format, exclusively ASDA, from feature space in 300 stores. The launch was supported with branded POS and online advertising, with a market leading promotional price of £1. The initial sales were extremely positive… the biggest challenge was keeping the product on sale! In the first 4 days, 30% of the 3 week forecast was sold. Shortly after, 500mls were launched in wholesale and convenience, where performance was similarly high!

In the summer, we took Slush Puppie Fizzie to Barcode Festival to continue promoting the launch to the industry. People couldn't keep their paws off. We even got a visit from The Pup himself!
