Don Quixote de la Mancha — a different look
Haven't you ever had a book you dreaded to read, but had to because School life made you do it? That was my case in school in Costa Rica, when it was mandatory to read Don Quixote. There are a total of 3 books, and I honestly never really read them, since they made us read them in such a short span of time. I had seen the movie, and honestly, it's quite fun and entertaining! I love the story and had even watched cartoons made of it back in the 90s.

Now I present to you my love for art and also for this extraordinary character, whom I used to dread, but now, I absolutely love... Don Quixote.
Here's a bit about him: Alonso Quijano was an old, tall, skinny man, who was alone in the world, but had money and had books. He was fond of books about knights, princesses, castles, etc. He read so much that he went crazy. He started believing he was a knight and he needed to find his damsel, he found an ordinary woman in town, and he fell for her hard. He started to say in front of everyone that he would do everything in her name and would pursue his love for her. He searched for a cavalry, but found only one gullible friend, Sancho Panza. He went with him in his famous adventures. They were quite different from each other, and while Don Quixote rode his very skinny horse in his knight armor, Sancho would travel by donkey, and was quite chubby. Together they "fought" giants (they were actually windmills), and faced many other adventures together. I'll leave the rest to you so you can find out what happened.

There are three styles that we were asked to pursue: A typographic cover, a handmade-type cover, and a designer's choice. See which one is your favorite!
Here we can see from left to right, the typography book cover, the handmade book cover, and the Designer's choice.
Each style is unique. To see more details of each book cover, I've added them below so you can see the stand-alone art.
Typography Book Cover
The background is actually a photo of the original fields of Spain from which the autor was inspired to create the character's infamous adventures. I've added some filters to it, but I wanted to draw most attention to the "i" that is represented by Don Quixote, fighting the "X" which is a windmill.
Handmade Book Cover
The handmade part was the wooden carvings of Don Quixote. After several attempts to make him in stones, and other materials, I decided that Don Quixote riding his horse in wood, would be more entertaining to explain the concept of the story better.
