JAPANESE GARDEN
In 1932, a garden appeared in Ueno; in 1944, the Japanese took refuge in it from bombing.
The story filmed on Super 8 is about the search for shelter and our inner ringing, which is always louder than the whistle of bombs.
My approach to the sound design was to reflect the warm femininity of the main character through lo-fi tape abstract melodies and surround her with natural foley sounds. I wanted this series to sound both dreamy and gracefully.
