| Amygdala Hijack |

A visual exploration that aims to provide a glimpse into my lived experience as an individual with mental illness.

Amygdala Hijack is experienced as a feeling of being frozen in time, trapped in a loop unable to to move forward or break free.

The decaying room serves as reflection of a mind in turmoil. A depiction of the isolation, despair, disorientation and overwhelm that a person living with mental illness contends with daily. In this relentless fight against the darkness, each day blurs into the next and escape feels impossible.

The dimly lit room, with only faint beams of light filtering through boarded-up windows, a representation of the feeling of being cut off from the world. The furniture sitting weary and torn, a reflection of the exhaustion that comes with the relentless battle. The scattered debris, worn toys and broken mirror on the floor mirroring the troubled, chaotic jumble of thoughts, dreams and hopes. The walls, once vibrant, now echo the quiet struggles within.

Ultimately, this render aims to foster understanding, support and compassion for those navigating this deeply personal and often isolating terrain.
The scene was inspired by the set from the music video, Chandelier - Sia.
