A l’affût : Coexistence on Alcatraz
What would be the architecture of a civilization where humans reconnect with their animality ?
Reconnecting with our animality, in the idea of the evolution of the human race, does not mean a rewilding of the human condition. On the contrary, we would retain our position as a social animal as defined by Aristotle, while living in unison with our environment. On Alcatraz Island, the next society will be inspired by animals and nature to fuel a metamorphosis of society through architecture more in line with the environment.
From a former prison with an imprisoning topography to a sanctuary for hundreds of wild species, Alcatraz will finally became a biome in itself.

In our scenario, a group of men have managed to become stealthy and have gathered on Alcatraz to live safely, hidden from others. They still want to advance science and to do so they create a naturalist's trail. They have set up blinds to study sea lions, guillemots and bats. It's no coincidence: human stealth translates into the adoption of animal behaviour. They now assimilate the characteristics of these three animals in addition to their new sound and morphological abilities.
