Dandara on Tentacles

Dandara in the Tentacles - Final Art
After attacking Dandara with its horrifying tentacles, the humanoid curse decided to reveal something it claimed to have refined to its victim. Then, after making a distinct hand signal, it vocalized the term "domain expansion." The combination of these two factors altered the place they were in, and thus, the curse trapped Dandara within its domain, which it referred to as " Enhancement of humanity."
In a matter of seconds, Dandara found herself in a dark place, surrounded by hundreds of tentacles like the ones the curse had used to attack her. With the guarantee of a direct hit, some tentacles seized and raised the sorcerer, rendering her vulnerable and without a chance for counterattacks. Two tentacles, out of all the others, pierced the sorceress's flesh, wounding her in two separate places. A challenging situation for our protagonist.
From the beginning of this story, I aimed to place the protagonist in a situation like this, ensnared by tentacles (which alludes to hentai) and, at the same time, to introduce the first-ever domain expansion in the narrative. I used the concept of "Enhancement" in the story to create an opening for potential future modifications within this character's domain expansion.
Drawing Mannequin
I searched for references on several art and standard social media platforms, but I couldn't find any that matched the specific pose I had in mind. So, I decided to create the reference myself.
To do this, I used a small drawing mannequin that I purchased from Shein.
I positioned the little mannequin in the pose I envisioned. Then, I placed it on top of a cabinet. I used my phone as a camera and took photos from various angles. Afterward, I just had to select one. The rest was simple, although not any less time-consuming.

Afterward, I searched in image banks for an urban, yet old, construction with settings like abandoned factories to create a background resembling the one described by the protagonist in the scene. I used a few solid color layers to darken the image and give it a gloomier tone after blending with the adjacent layers.

"I was happy with the outcome, but I'd like to learn more about creating good backgrounds for my artwork.
Will Dandara manage to escape or confront the curse within her domain expansion? You can check out Chapter 4 of the Fanfic to find out. The chapter is already available on the blog.
See you soon!"
