The Five Animal Frolics and five elements

The Five Animal Frolics is an important gong method of traditional Chinese guided health care, created by Hua Tuo (c. 145-208). The Five Animal Frolics consists of five animal-like movements: tiger, deer, bear, ape, and crane. Each movement is performed symmetrically once each on the left and right, and is accompanied by breath conditioning. The Five Animal Frolics is originally a series of gymnastics-like movements, the beginning of no name, only to the five animal types to be divided into categories, respectively, for the human body's five organs and five elements to produce the benefits of health. According to Chinese medicine, Hua's Five Animal Play is related to the five elements, which are Taoist concepts that refer to the five dynamic and interdependent patterns or aspects of the universe that continue to exist and develop, including wood, fire, earth, gold and water. The movements of each of the five animals imitated in the playfulness correspond to one of the five elements and are designed to achieve specific health benefits.
