The tracked lioness

Some of the lionesses at Serengeti National Park at Tanzania wear this collar as a tracking device. This is because the female lion (aka lioness), has the tendency to be around the region that her family has claimed as theirs, whereas male lions may travel many kilometres away to hunt and provide for both themselves and their family. That way, the Park’s staff knows the approximate area that the family and also maybe the father (if he ever returned) is located.
