Indian motif prints are a distinctive and culturally significant form of textile design that originate from the rich artistic traditions of India. These prints are characterised by intricate, often geometric or nature-inspired patterns, and they hold a deep historical and cultural significant in Indian art and fashion.

As these motifs draw inspiration from a wide range of sources, I have used the most common motifs which include paisley and flowers.

Modernising Indian motifs involves infusing traditional designs with contemporary aesthetics. Here I have incorporated a palette of pastels and vibrant colours to create a dynamic repeat pattern that appeals to a modern audience. I have tried to create a fusion of elements from the past and the present so that design is both visually striking and culturally resonant.

I have used pastel shades such as soft pinks, olive and mint greens, subtle yellows and oranges, to lend a subtle and soothing undertone to the motifs, giving a modern twist to their traditional roots. I have tried to create a harmonious backdrop for the vibrant colours by the use of gentle hues, which add energy and contrast to the whole picture.
