The Life and Work of Sally Mann

When I first heard of Sally Mann I expected some crazy explicit images. After watching the documentary I can see how some people can view some of her work as inappropriate but in reality they just don't have the context. I think it starts with her upbringing. She says her family was raised differently, and it was even hard to be normal. Her parents encouraged her interest in being an artist and I can image the possibilities that creates. It was easy to recognize how much she loves the art and dedicates herself to it. In a way that includes not only time, but the mind. It just seems like it's something she thinks about all day everyday. I think that's what makes her a great artist.
