Process:
Planning my poster design with thumbnails of different ideas.
Starting by brainstorming by referring to the previous week's project by using different key words that related to the issue and browsing Pinterest for references.
Process:
I hadn't done lino block since high school so I wasn't very confident when starting. Carving the block, hand placement and adjusting to holding the carving tool was a discomfort I had forgotten about. I adjusted to it and began carving the design I had sketched onto the lino block using a black sharpie. Rolling on the ink and stamping was quite successful.
Moving to Procreate, I scanned the lino image and experimented with colours.
Referring back to the Adobe colour wheel like the previous poster, I wanted a bold blue background and a complimentary tone to go alongside the blue. The rustic orange tone gave it a dramatic yet edgy effect, reflecting the seriousness of the issue.

For the final experiment, I played around with different colours. I wanted to have a variety of pleasing colours to contrast the black of the fish and text.
The typography of choice was Jack Armstrong BB as I felt it best suited the design (not too formal, not too childish).
Reflection:

When designing, I kept in mind the lino rule that whatever I want to be stamped, make sure it isn't too detailed or thin - make it basic patterns and shapes. So I used sharpie to mark the areas on the lino to not carve and began to dig around it.
I found the silhouette of the lino quite flattering and added a nice texture that complimented the overall design.
When I scanned the images and exported them to Procreate, it was enjoyable to play around with colours and what was the most complimentary. I referred to the colour wheel to decide the colour for the coral, however, in the final design I really liked the choice of using different vibrant colours to reflect the coral and also to grab the viewer's attention. The use of colour and font paired together made the poster more intriguing and developed a larger target audience as it has statement colours, lines and a clear message. Experimenting with lino and procreate was very insightful and allowed me to develop skills using a different tool.
