Fall 2009- Junior Year
The Underhill Institute is a design proposal for a new art and architecture facility at the University of San Francisco. The concept for this design focuses on the relationship between building and site. Taking inspiration from natural patterns and processes, the design strives to provide a comfortable ambient environment that incorporates passive design elements that both blend into and celebrate the unique characteristics of the site. The design also draws references from the surrounding urban fabric, ultimately addressing the relationship between the built and natural environments in multiple ways.
