Speleothem Lamps - Sculpture building wax lamps
The Speleothem Lamp is a sculptural lighting piece in which the heat output of a halogen bulb is harnessed to grow towers of wax.
The driving aim of this project was to create a piece that would send a message concerning the potential of converting ‘waste outputs’,into constructive outputs. I wanted to create an object of wonder, one which would change the way its user perceives the heat output of halogen bulbs, a piece that would encourage viewers to think creatively, rather than negatively, about the secondary outputs of electrical devices in their homes.
