Task 3

The task given is to make a survey regarding the design concepts made by me and my colleague, Iylia. Our idea of business is to form an energy bars & drinks, basically business in relation to energy products.

We received responses from a total of 18 participants in our survey regarding the preference between the two logo concepts for our company. The results showed that 77.8% favored the first concept design, while 22.2% preferred the second one.

Before we get into details, here are the logo concepts that we came up with.

Design Concept 1 is black in colour with a tagline of, "Awaken Your Senses, Ignite Your Drive."

Design Concept 2 is coloured with gradient colours and a tagline of, "Awaken Your Potential."
The feedback received for Design Concept 1 logo is generally positive. The key points from the responses:

1. Positive Impressions:
- People like the design, describing it as impactful, neat, and nicely done.
- The use of vibrant colors and sleek typography is appreciated.
- The lightning symbol cutting through the word is seen as an effective representation of the energy the product embodies.
- The design captures the dynamic and bold essence of the energy drink.

2. Colors and Typography:
- The color palette is considered nice and bright, matching the energy-driven theme.
- The use of bright colors is believed to boost mood and attract consumers.
- Some comments suggest that the green background might overshadow the yellow wording or that the background color stands out more than the typography.

3. Recognition and Impact:
- The design is simple but memorable, making it easy for people to remember.
- The design is eye-catching and draws attention.

4. Familiarity and Uniqueness:
- Some respondents note that the design feels familiar but can't pinpoint where they've seen something similar before.
- A few comment that the design might be too common or reminiscent of certain trends.

5. Relevance to Energy Drink Theme:
- The design is seen as matching the energy drink description and conveying an edgy vibe that fits the product.
- The use of lightning in the logo is particularly praised for its relevance to the theme.

6. Suggestions for Improvement:
- Some suggest making the design bolder, while retaining its current elements, to enhance its impact.
- One comment humorously mentions that the name "Dynamo" reminds them of laundry detergent, but overall, the minimalist design related to the theme is appreciated.
- Decrease the font size slightly for the tagline "Awaken your senses, Ignite your drive" and possibly skew it to the side for added dynamism. Consider adding speed lines to make the wording more powerful and energetic.

In summary, Design Concept 1 is generally well-received for its dynamic representation of the energy drink's essence, impactful use of colors and typography, and effective incorporation of the lightning symbol. There are suggestions to address potential overshadowing issues and consider making the design bolder. The overall consensus is that the design aligns with the energy drink's theme and communicates its message effectively.

As for Design Concept 2, the feedback received is a mix of positive reactions and constructive critiques. The main points from the responses:

1. Positive Impressions:
- The design is considered unique, creative, and intriguing.
- The Pac-man inspiration is appreciated, as it adds a cute and bright aspect to the design.
- The gradient colors are seen as professional, and the design overall looks fun and enjoyable.

2. Design Elements:
- The gradient is praised for representing different energy and excitement levels.
- The sharp edges of the font are noted as adding to the sense of energy being ignited.

3. Concerns and Conflicts:
- Some respondents feel that the "bites" part of the design seems irrelevant to an energy drink and could be associated with food more than energy.
- A few comments suggest that the design might be more suitable for IT-related themes rather than energy drinks.
- There's a sense that the design contradicts the energy being described due to its playful and fun appearance.

4. Pac-man Inspiration:
- While some love the Pac-man inspiration, others don't immediately associate it with energy drinks, and the connection might not be clear to everyone.
- The use of Pac-man's elements like the mouth and bites is seen as a bit off-theme for an energy drink.

5. Color Palette and Gradient:
- Some feedback suggests that the choice of colors and gradient might not perfectly convey the intended energy and excitement, as certain colors traditionally symbolize low energy.

6. Font and Text:
- The font choice is generally liked for conveying energy, but some suggest using a single solid color for the text.
- A couple of comments mention that the word "bites" gives an unintended connotation related to food.

7. Overall Vibe:
- The design is seen as giving off a colorful and artistic vibe reminiscent of Rio.

8. Suggestions for Improvement:
- Use flat colors instead of gradients to create a cleaner and more focused look.
- Remove or incorporate the "bites" part of the design into the wording for better coherence.
- Consider placing the "Awaken your potential" text below the logo.
- Use a single solid color for the text and consider using the gradient color from the text as the background. Reduce the boldness of the text outline and provide spacing between letters.

In summary, Design Concept 2 is recognized for its uniqueness, creative use of the Pac-man inspiration, and engaging gradient. However, there are concerns about the relevance of certain design elements to the energy drink theme, the potential misinterpretation of the Pac-man connection, and the choice of colors and gradients. Some respondents appreciate the design's boldness and font choice but suggest refining certain aspects to better align with the energy drink concept and its messaging.

Certainly, here are the suggestions provided by the respondents for improving the design concepts:

General Suggestions:
- Explore trendy colors that don't overshadow each other.
- Remove the stroke from the font in Concept 2 and use negative space instead. - Choose two main colors for the gradient and use the other two as secondary colors for elements.
- Explore the possibility of incorporating elements from Pac-man into the first concept to add uniqueness.
- Focus on making the energy drink design more representative of its nature as a beverage.
- Collect more information to develop accurate logo designs and find better ways to showcase the logo's elevation.
- Ensure that the logo conveys the energy drink's brand identity clearly.
- Consider trying alternative brand names.
- Create a stronger connection between the colors used and the electrifying effect of the energy drink concept.
- Fine-tune the gradient to achieve a smoother transition between colors.
- Ensure that the design reflects the characteristics of an energy drink rather than a healthy beverage.

Overall, the feedback provides valuable insights into how to enhance the designs. These suggestions range from adjusting typography and colors to incorporating more relevant elements and maintaining consistency with the energy drink's nature and branding.
