The first woman to have a solo exhibition at the Louvre, a trendsetter whose designs were used for dresses and cars in Paris, a woman who, together with her husband, created the picturesque "simultanism" style, and an officer of the Legion of Honor - all this is about the famous artist Sonia Delaunay. Her real name was Sara Stern, born in Odesa. The Delaunay couple founded "simultanism". From Latin, "simul" means "together" or "simultaneously," and the Delaunays explained simultanism as "the image of the movement of color in light." Guillaume Apollinaire called this style "Orphism", comparing it to the ancient Greek music of Orpheus.Sonia Delaunay became very famous in the fashion world. Thanks to her, the world saw "poem dresses", which depicted poetry combined with simultaneous images. In one of these dresses, Sonia first appeared at a bohemian party in 1913 and was admired by the fashion world.During the First World War, the Delaunay family moved to Spain, where Sonia drew sketches of costumes and sets for Diaghilev's ballet Cleopatra for a performance. However, the turning point in the artist's life occurred in 1925. When at the Parisian Exhibition of Decorative Arts, Sonia Delaunay presented a wide range of products - from "simultanistic" scarves to carpets and machines. In 1963, Delaunay donated 117 works to France, including paintings by Robert. The following year, Sonia Delaunay had her first ever solo exhibition at the Louvre.Sonia Delaunay died at the age of 94, forever entering the history of world fashion as an artist who combined art and clothing.
