Purdey's Thermochromic Packaging

D & AD New Blood Awards 2014. Purdey's.
Repackage Purdey's Rejuvenate and extend its range to include a new product - Purdey's Natural Energy.
Our concept was based around the vitamins present in the Purdey's formula and the positive effect they have on the body, helping to rebalance and restore wellbeing. We looked into these vitamins under the microscope; the brightly coloured patterns had the positive aesthetics we were looking for.
The Purdey's Rejuvenate formula contains seven different vitamins, therefore we decided to create a range that would show each of them off. We felt that these could become quite collectable to the consumer, particularly if they were a limited edition collection.
As Purdey's Rejuvenate has a positive effect when its inside the body, we wanted to show it's positive effect on the outside. We did this by using thermochromic technology; when the heat of the hand touches the bottle it changes from being silver to reveal the full colour vitamin image.  We created ergonomically designed bottles that push into the palm of the hand to maximise the effect of the thermochromic design and achieve successful handprints onto the bottle.
The design for Purdey's Natural Energy uses the same thermochromic technology but the energy pattern on the outside disappears to reveal the drink inside.
