In this concept, Packaging of data storage device (HD) is envisioned without any use of plastic and less INK consumption with a longer retention factor.

 

This is to motivate Data Take-away in a clean and green package. Here packaging of Data storage device is designed to protect not only till the time the product is bought by the customer but also during his Initial usage as a shell. This prevents the package from getting disposed as soon as the package is open. For most of the hard disk the outer protective shell/case is usually purchased separately for additional protection. This new design will help the users use the package itself as a Hard Case to protect and wire manage for the initial few days of usage. 

This extends the packaging life span from mere opening to a utility cum package. The design uses single sheet of recyclable card board folded to give strength against basic mechanical stress it might incur during the transit and usage. The elastic is provided to keep the wires managed when the drive is moved from one location to another at the same time providing some rigidity to the package.
The concept could be scaled up to any fragile electronic product for having a green and sustainable utility packaging.
