Tibetan Chai Tea is the first variety to be marketed by the Barefoot Dharma Wellness Center in Long Beach, CA. The actual tea is from Tibet, while the other herbs that make it "chai" are imported from China. The design brief for this project was to be contemporary, but still have a "warm, Tibetan feel."
The iconography of Tibetan art is overwhelming. There is so much mystical imagery to draw from, it's tempting to layer paintings of Buddhas over intricate mandalas while adding richly colored fabrics for background patterns. But using obvious images of Buddhism or Tibetan crafts was not what was requested, however tempting.
The following visual story is a layering of RESEARCH, SKETCHES, and COMPS. Like any good story, this all ends with the FINAL DESIGN chosen by an enlightened client.
