It was early in the fall, and the approach of the new year was imminent. Andrea and John Atle were about to take ownership of Andrea's father's dental business. They already had plans and ambitions for the company, wanting to elevate it further. They sought to mark this transition to the new phase, and they decided that a new name and visual identity would be a fitting way to do so.
We agreed that defining the brand's essence before developing the name and identity was wise. Therefore, we conducted interviews with employees and customers, followed by a workshop where we crafted a brand platform for the company based on insights gathered from the interviews.
From this, we developed the concept "With a Smile," which also encapsulates the dentists' compassion for both people and their profession.
The name "Evident" was chosen as the new company name. This signifies both being the natural choice when selecting a dentist (evident in English) and the dual nature of people and profession; "Evi" for lifelong relationships and "Dent" for the dental field.
We uncovered a culture characterized by openness, laughter, and a relaxed atmosphere on one side, and a strong focus on expertise and professionalism on the other. Customers expressed their contentment in a laid-back environment with clear and helpful information, and skilled dentists.
The new logo seamlessly integrates a smile within the wordmark, naturally separating the two components of the name, and a twinkle in the eye emerges through animations. We also developed a visual and textual toolbox that collectively conveys warmth, friendliness, openness, and expertise. This aids in destigmatizing dental visits, with the hope that customers can anticipate their next visit with pleasure.
The outcome is a modern and playful identity that mirrors the essence of the company's culture and accommodates future growth and evolution.
