Robber Kiskadee and the WaWaWa Fly

Media created for Douen Island Kiskadee by Kriston Chen and Alice Yard 2015. Media never used.

We were especially interested in using the illustration and ideation space to articulate shapes and type. We used a meditation on the body of bird; an abstraction of the body of a pigeon and had an idea for a Douen Kiskadee, a body in perpetuity and how this body moves, lands, resists inertia. How it hides and is invisible. The Douen; faceless, a jumbie, demon or ghost spirit that talks about heathenism and the need to baptise children. And Kiskadee; small, buzzing, speed, always moving. We called it we "Ghoulish Studies."

There was also a short animation attached to project. The script attached to project was sent to RJACKAL Productions -- a puppetry company based in Trinidad and they loved the script. The project has turned into something else in 2023. Currently we are trying to revamp the project, use these old ideas to shape the brand for the puppet show, build puppets and... we'll see how this goes.
