DOC OCK Battle Bot
By Hunter Whitaker, Mia Irizarry, and Joshua Robinson
Doc Ock is a claw-style battle robot that uses a 15" claw to attack other robots. This is accomplished using two 25kg servos to actuate the claw and gives it enough force to power into other opponents. The entire body and claw of Doc Ock is 16 gauge steel and was plasma cut out after being designed in Fusion. The body of Doc Ock is a pyramid-style body with a flat top allowing for defense against brute force and spinner-style robots because of its angled sides. The body was MIG welded with a stitch welding style which was fast and effective. Lastly, Doc Ock used two brushed motors, two ESCs, a six-channel receiver, and a FlySky FS-i6x Controller. Which allowed the robot to maneuver and programming of the different devices. The aesthetics of the robot were designed around dark blue and neon green which gave the robot good contrast as the white designs were added to the body. The claw was hydrodipped which gave it a flowy style of art around it and was designed using the same paint on the robot. Overall, Doc Ock was a very fun and new experience as it increased my skills in numerous ways including fabrication, manufacturing, and 3D Modeling.
