University of Portsmouth START-UP HUB

Project goal
This was a university assessment.
The brief was to design and produce a digital product or service by undertaking a vigorous User Experience Design [UXDesign] approach to a stated problem. Explore, research, and develop an innovative/engaging way to meet people with similar interests at University. Consider the context of the work [inc. COVID], human behaviour, and the key motivations and needs of your identified users.
Solution
For my UI/UX course project, I spearheaded the creation of the University of Portsmouth START-UP HUB, a pioneering digital platform designed to address the challenge of connecting university students with startups for seamless collaboration. This project showcases my ability to employ a meticulous User Experience Design (UXDesign) approach and emphasizes the significance of human behaviour, the impact of COVID-19, and the key motivations and needs of the target audience.

Problem Identification and Research:
The foundation of the University of Portsmouth START-UP HUB project was laid through extensive research and interviews conducted with university students. By gaining valuable insights into their interests, aspirations, and hindrances in pursuing entrepreneurial ventures, I developed comprehensive user profiles and identified the specific target audience for the platform.

Solution: A Cutting-Edge START-UP HUB
At the heart of the project lay a critical issue - the absence of a dedicated platform to facilitate student-startup connections and collaborations. To bridge this gap, I conceptualized a sophisticated online START-UP HUB. Its primary objective was to offer an intuitive and engaging user interface, empowering students to explore entrepreneurial opportunities and collaborate on innovative projects with startups.

UX Journey Mapping:
The development of the University of Portsmouth START-UP HUB involved meticulous user journey mapping for both students and startups. This process allowed me to identify the various touchpoints and interactions within the platform, leading to a seamless and user-friendly experience for all users involved.

Low-Fidelity and High-Fidelity Prototyping:
To refine the platform's design and functionality, I undertook a two-fold prototyping approach. I began with a low-fidelity prototype to visualize the basic layout and user flow. The insights gathered from this initial phase guided the creation of a high-fidelity prototype, which adhered to the University's design system for brand consistency and accessibility standards.

Thorough Product Testing and Iterative Refinements:
Incorporating user feedback and insights was a cornerstone of the University of Portsmouth START-UP HUB project. Rigorous product testing with real users allowed me to gather valuable feedback, enabling iterative refinements that significantly enhanced the user experience.

The University of Portsmouth START-UP HUB represents the culmination of a user-centric design process, which sought to address a critical need within the university community. By creating an innovative platform that fosters student-startup collaboration, this project exemplifies my ability to develop digital products that resonate with the identified target audience. I am proud to present the University of Portsmouth START-UP HUB as a testament to my expertise in User Experience Design and my commitment to delivering impactful solutions.
