Second album of the young quartet from Pittsburgh, Girl with Fish continues to convince in its register by playing with contrasts: it is powerful and nuanced, dissonant and melodic, mixing familiar structures with surprising ruptures, all in a remarkable balance where each title has its place and can be associated with, or complete, the following one. The voice of Lydia Slocum, between scruffy nonchalance and well-placed harmony, reinforces these contradictory postures.
