This was my main project during my time at Whirlpool: I worked as an Industrial Design Lead and was responsible for creating and developing all of the design elements of the interior & exterior of the product, and also acted as a focal point to connect with the other design areas like CMF and User Experience.

What started as a development of an Ice & Water dispenser system to be included in an existing platform turned into a review of the whole 80cm platform, including two facelifts of existing refrigerators in addition to the new models with the I&W dispenser.

We got the opportunity to work close with the Engineering team in the first Ice & Water system fully developed in Brazil, so we took the chance to review the interior layout and to create new features of space management inside the existing cavity size - with a lot of prototyping and testing we arrived at great solutions for the drawers and shelves, increasing the internal space and the capacity perception.

The exterior design reflects the updated Global Language of the brand, including new door handles and user interface - with an innovation of being the first French Door Bottom Mount on the market to offer 3 water temperatures (room-cold-chilled), matching our regional consumer preferences of water consumption.

In the end, as we designed the whole model line simultaneously, we were able to share the design solutions and even some parts in between the 04 models - with room for creating all-new features like the crisper drawer with adjustable delicates tray for the models without I&W dispenser.

Each model also received an updated CMF spec, new UI color and graphics, matching the most recent Global Design Language.
