016 is the number women suffering from domestic violence and / or sexual abuse can call to ask for help in Spain. For this project I was commissioned to design a campaign that was not violent, bloody or sad, far from every standard or preconceived idea that general opinion may have about an issue like domestic male-to-female violence.
This is how I came up with a design which is based on three of the best known sculpture pieces of all time -The Rape of Proserpina by Bernini, The Kidnapping of the Sabine Women by Giambologna and Apollo and Daphne, also by Bernini.
A clear concept pointing at the fact that violence against women is something that has been here for thousands of years and that we have completely normalized as a standard even in The Arts. The white marble against the completely black background creates a contrast that is shockingly disturbing and which lets the viewer only one way out: a red 016 number.
