I want to start posting stuff from game i'm making now, and today i'll start from Croc's walking cycle animation.
Chukaiju is a pre-postapoc kaiju fighting game in development. It's lore and monsters are inspired by Korney Chukovsky tales.
Crocodile was in several his tales, but main source and story trigger is Stolen Sun, where this guy swallow the sun.
That's why he can exhale the flame and that's why he has lava saliva in his mouth.
It started as Godzilla homage, and all game kaijus has not only Chukovsky tales roots, but also rhyme with various kaiju/mecha archetypes.

As the conflict escalates chukaijus are growing. On storyline beginning they scale is much smaller, till the end - far bigger, than on this example
There are planned 16 characters, and first two of them have (almost) full movesets now. But it's really big amount of stuff, so I'm not sure how will it be more handy for you to explore project - by posts with separated animations or if i'll add other animations and descriptions to this current project.
So today i'll just show Croc's idle and some working stages.

It's not universal pipeline for every animation or even every walk cycle in game, but for croc i worked this way. Draw legs movement ro feel tha character and later add all other stuff.
Most difficult part was to decide, how should he move his hands - like guy in rubber suite or not.
Kaijus as genre
I do not use 3d or something. For each character before working on main moveset i draw sort of turning around frames. They're always planned as source, which can be changed and used for some poses in future animations.
But they're almost not usefull at the end of the day and it's faster just to draw new pose and draw light how it should be in current position.
