Power Trip: An Interactive Live Performance and Chaotic Installation

"Power Trip" is a dynamic and immersive project that combines live performance art with an interactive installation centered around a sewing machine. In this project, I take control of the sewing machine, operating it manually to create patterns and designs. However, the concept takes a dramatic turn as I intentionally lose control over the machine, allowing it to take charge and create chaotic patterns on its own. The patterns formed by the sewing machine represent the unpredictable and uncontrollable chaos that accompanies a power trip.

The project aims to explore the dynamics of power, control, and the consequences that arise when power is unchecked. Through the interactive live performance, viewers witness the initial control exerted by the operator (myself), symbolizing the intoxicating allure of power. However, as the machine gains autonomy, the chaos and disorder created by its independent actions reflect the destructive nature of unbridled power.
The installation provides an engaging and visually captivating experience, with the sewing machine acting as a tangible representation of power dynamics in various aspects of life. The audience is encouraged to reflect on their own relationship with power, authority, and the potential dangers of succumbing to a power trip.
By blurring the lines between human control and machine autonomy, "Power Trip" raises questions about the delicate balance between power, responsibility, and the unintended consequences that can arise when power is unchecked.
