Illustration for Ursula Le Guin's Flyers of Gy, created as a submission for The Folio Book Illustration Award 2023 (long-listed, yey!). The short story is about an alien race, looking very much like humans, but covered in feathers, about the rare occurrence of wings in their population and their perception of the winged ones. But really, it's a story about identity, and maybe creativity, and gifts, curses, choices and sacrifice. It's a story about the price of authenticity, and the true meaning of the word. I found it very inspiring, and I loved the ending.
