Roadside Memorials
This is a photojournalism project that documented various roadside memorials. It was done in the span of 5 months and I hope to continue and add to this project. I wanted to honor the people who passed away by making the images as straight forward as possible. I only wanted photos that fully showed the memorial, rather than focusing on other object near the memorial such as flowers, lights, or stuffed animals.
Artist Statement: This project explores the significance and visual story behind roadside memorials. These temporary expressions of grief and remembrance interest me, as they serve as tangible testaments to the fragility of humans and the enduring bond between the living and the dead. Through my lens, I strive to document the emotional landscapes and personal stories within these spontaneous shrines, which invite viewers to contemplate the complexities of loss, memory, and the shared human experience.
