Darrach Bourke's profile

Spring Fever Festival and Art Installation Opening

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Darrach Bourke guides Emerson Equity, where he provides his clients with a host of financial solutions. Darrach Bourke served on the board of the di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art in the early 2000s. Focused on the dynamic interplay of nature and art, the center also offers a number of events and educational programs.

One annual tradition is the di Rosa Day: Spring Fever festival, which brings together live performances, food trucks, and artist talks and stations in an inviting, natural setting. Featured activities include building and flying kites with local artist Jasmine Zhangand and the planting and painting of personal mini-dye gardens.

In addition, the event hosts the opening of the exhibition Natural Discourse, which offers several large-scale outdoor photographic installations that reference the human and natural histories of Napa. Portraits by Riitta Ikonen and Karoline Hjorth along Winery Lake place humans playfully within well-known landscapes. Dornith Doherty has placed “electron microscopies of phylloxera blight” in Sculpture Meadow that underline just how agrobiodiverse the surrounding vineyards are. Finally, Sharon Beals places blown-up images of birds’ nests within the olive grove, creating an illusion of abodes that one can crawl into.
