National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) brings the business aviation community together to help them succeed. The NBAA Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Roundtable commemorated two years of sustained legislative and regulatory aspects and membership growth.

The AAM Roundtable, tasked with advanced policy planning in collaboration with various sector leaders, has worked towards the inclusion of AAM technologies to become part of the country’s airspace and infrastructure. This initiative is part of the Washington D.C.-based organization’s mission to strategically place the United States as a global aviation and aerospace leader.

In 2023, the AAM Roundtable will work closely with the bipartisan congressional AAM Caucus and top authorizers in Congress to incorporate pro-AAM policies into the FAA reauthorization bill. The FAA authorization is set to expire on September 30, 2023. According to Kristie Greco Johnson, NBAA’s senior vice president of government affairs, electric aviation, and AAM technology are set to become mainstream in the US aviation sector, with the inaugural commercial AAM flight scheduled for 2025.

Johnson reiterated the need for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to help comply with the regulatory schedules and maintain aircraft-type certifications. An AAM Roundtable meeting in January 2023 brought together congressional representatives from the Senate and House of Representatives, the Department of Energy, and high-level FAA officials to allow members to share their challenges and deliberate on solutions that will help support the initiative.
