ASME-US Department of State Launches Fellows Program

An engineer from Franklin, Tennessee, Janek Pawlik has worked for large corporations such as General Motors, Federal-Mogul, and Siebel Systems Inc. An extension of her work in engineering, Janek Pawlik was also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), an organization that helps engineers solve real-world problems.

In December 2022, the ASME announced a partnership with the US Department of State which has transcended into creating the ASME Department of State Engineering and Diplomacy Fellowship program. The program will help fund scholarship and research, focusing on the Department of State involving engineering and international participation in scientific issues.

The fellowship program facilitates an increased understanding of the complex and innovative engineering and scientific fields. It also helps the Department of State gain insight into the importance of emerging scientific issues from a global perspective. This government agency will bring its work to the larger community by providing its expertise to the US Department of State.

The ASME Foundation funds this fellowship and the ASME Government Relations Office, Washington. The application deadline for this year has passed, but those interested in applying can visit www.asme.org/about-asme to get more information.
